FLOOD RELIEF SUPPORT – ERAL VILLAGE, TUTICORIN DISTRICT (2023)

In December 2023, the southern districts of Tamil Nadu were ravaged by heavy rains, with Eral in Tuticorin District being among the worst affected. The collapse of the Eral River bridge isolated the Village, turning it into an unreachable island for nearly a week. Entire neighborhoods were submerged, leaving families without food, water, or shelter. In this time of dire need, Pattamkattimaravar Trust stepped in to provide monetary assistance to nearly 20 families whose homes and belongings were completely destroyed by the flood. This relief effort was a testament to our commitment to humanitarian service and our ability to respond swiftly in times of crisis.

INDEPENDENCE DAY SPEECH (2024)

To celebrate Independence Day, a speech program was organized to engage children in reflecting on the significance of the occasion. The program not only encouraged public speaking and self-confidence but also provided an opportunity for children to express their views on freedom and independence. Medals and certificates were awarded to the best participants, honouring their efforts and contributions to the event.

FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS (2024)

In a compassionate effort to ensure a dignified farewell for those without family support, the organization took responsibility for arranging the funeral rites of a woman who had no relatives. The proper rites were performed, ensuring a respectful and solemn ceremony. This initiative underscored the commitment to providing care and respect to all individuals, regardless of their circumstances.

At Pattamkattimaravar Trust, we strive to create lasting change through programs focused on education, social welfare, cultural initiatives, and humanitarian aid. Each initiative is designed to empower individuals, uplift communities, and foster hope and dignity for all.

FUTURE PLANS

Our primary future plan is to establish an old age home named "UTHIRI POOKKAL" (Spare Flowers), symbolizing care and dignity for those often overlooked. This sanctuary will provide respect, love, and comfort to individuals who feel neglected or abandoned, ensuring they live their later years with dignity.

Education and Empowerment: We aim to provide quality education to underprivileged children, offer vocational training, and prepare youth for responsible citizenship, empowering them to build a brighter future.

Women and Youth Support: By forming self-help groups, organizing empowerment programs for women, and creating clubs for children and youth, we strive to foster growth, self-reliance, and community support.

Healthcare and Welfare Services: Our initiatives include establishing medical relief centres, providing assistance to displaced individuals, and supporting those in need of burial expenses or housing, ensuring access to basic needs and care.

Social Infrastructure: We focus on creating libraries, community halls, reading rooms, shelters, and health centres, while building and maintaining homes for children, the elderly, and the disabled, promoting social development and well-being.

Economic Development: To enhance sustainability, we support employment, self-employment, and agricultural and industrial growth through technical training and financial assistance.

Collaboration and Networking: We actively partner with like-minded charitable trusts and institutions to amplify our impact and achieve shared objectives for the betterment of society.

Our future plans reflect our unwavering determination to make a meaningful impact on society. With a clear vision, we are committed to turning our aspirations into reality. Whether it’s establishing the Uthiri Pookkal old age home, expanding educational opportunities, empowering women and youth, or enhancing healthcare and social infrastructure, we approach every goal with passion and perseverance. Guided by our principle of "Sowing Seed or Being Seed," we are resolute in overcoming challenges and ensuring that every initiative fosters dignity, care, and lasting change for those in need.
